Integrate Fieldbook with anything via Zapier

You can integrate Fieldbook with almost any app or service via Zapier. For example, you could send TypeForm responses into Fieldbook, or create new Fieldbook rows whenever you get a MailChimp subscriber or Stripe customer.

What is Zapier?

Zapier is an integrations hub that supports hundreds of apps. Each has “triggers” and “actions”. You can hook up a trigger from any app to an action from any other app.

In Zapier, Fieldbook has:

  • New Row trigger: Fires whenever a new row is added to a given sheet
  • Updated Row trigger: Fires whenever a row is updated in a given sheet
  • Create Row action: Adds a new row to a designated sheet

Capturing data from other services into Fieldbook

To create new Fieldbook rows based on data from other services:

  1. Set up a Fieldbook with the right columns to receive the data.
  2. Go to Zapier and make a “Zap”: https://zapier.com/app/editor
  3. Choose a third-party app as the “Trigger”.
  4. Choose Fieldbook as the “Action”.
  5. Configure the action step by choosing the book and sheet you set up in step 1.

Pushing new Fieldbook entries to other services

To send new Fieldbook rows to another service:

  1. Set up a Fieldbook with the columns you need, if you don't have this already. Make sure there is at least one row of sample data.
  2. Go to Zapier and make a “Zap”: https://zapier.com/app/editor
  3. Choose Fieldbook as the “Trigger.”
  4. Configure the trigger step by choosing the book and sheet from step 1.
  5. Choose a third-party app as the “Action”.

Help, my rows are getting triggered too soon!

The Fieldbook trigger in Zapier is an “instant” trigger, meaning it fires as soon as a new row exists. While it's convenient that you don't have to wait, it can lead to the trigger firing too soon (i.e. if you've entered a new row in a sheet but weren't done filling it out yet).

There are two ways to solve this problem:

  • Enter new rows via a form, not by typing in the sheet.
  • Mark certain columns as “required”. The trigger won't fire until all required columns are filled in.

What if the app I want isn't in Zapier?

You can still connect to almost anything that has an API, using the Webhooks by Zapier built-in app. This has actions that make API calls, and triggers that receive webhooks from any API.
